Ryan Potucek (pronounced "poe-too-sek") has been successful professionally training, showing, and raising reining horses for many years. He is an approved NRHA judge, has his AQHA specialization judging card, is a member of the NRHA Professionals, is the Vice-President of the Texas Reining Horse Association, and he is an excellent instructor to non-pro and youth exhibitors. Ryan's resume >> Training Ryan begins by establishing a solid foundation. This consists of body control like moving the shoulders, rib cage, and hips; giving the face to the left and right; collecting the face and body to round the top-line; guiding on a loose rein; counter cantering; stopping on whoa; and the horse remaining relaxed during speed transitions. Then he uses the body control to teach reining maneuvers like spins, stops, rollbacks, and lead changes. Finally, Ryan finishes horses by riding them primarily in one hand and practicing maneuvers, while gradually increasing the degree of difficulty.

Showing
Ryan has achieved several top-ten finishes in Derby and Futurity competition; a Reserve National Championship; top-ten finishes in NRHA year-end standings; and several AQHA World Show qualifiers. Judging
Ryan is an NRHA approved judge and has his AQHA specialization card for reining. He is actively judging NRHA affiliate shows as well as major events including the NRHA futurity, National Reining Breeders Classic, and the Mountain Affiliate Championships. Read more >>
